THE PASSPORT STANDARD
A more complete measure of hospitality.
The Passport Standard is an independent, hospitality-informed framework for evaluating how well a property or experience delivers on its promises.
β
βIt looks beyond appearance to consider the quality, consistency, value and care demonstrated across the complete guest journey.
Because beautiful is not enough.
Travelers are often asked to make decisions based on polished images, abbreviated reviews and marketing language that reveals very little about how an experience actually performs.
β
The Passport Standard was created to provide a more complete perspective, one grounded in professional hospitality practice, direct observation and the realities of being an invested guest.
β
The goal is not to reward one style of hospitality. A small independent hotel and a large luxury resort should not be expected to offer the same amenities. Both should be expected to deliver what they promise with care, integrity and consistency.
Standard Considerations
01
Service
The warmth, attentiveness, consistency, timing and recovery skills demonstrated throughout the guest journey.
02
Design and Sense of Place
How effectively the property’s identity, layout, atmosphere and details support both function and emotional connection to the destination.
03
Comfort
Rest, cleanliness, maintenance, privacy, ease and the practical details that influence how a guest feels in the space.
04
Culinary Experience
Where food and beverage are offered, the Standard considers quality, service, menu design, beverage programming, sanitation, timing, value and sense of place.
05
Guest Experience
How well the journey from discovery and booking through departure feels coordinated, intentional and consistent with the property’s positioning.
06
Responsible Hospitality
Visible labor practices, environmental responsibility, safety, sanitation and truthful representation.
07
The Passport Effect
The emotional impression, distinctive character and sense of care that make an experience memorable and worth recommending.

How Evaluation Works
Evaluations are based on direct observation and the experience available to a typical guest.
Depending on the assignment, the process may include a complete stay, dining and beverage experiences, advertised amenities, service interactions and observation of how effectively the property resolves concerns.
Recognition is never based on appearance alone, a single impressive moment or a paid partnership. A property must demonstrate strength across the experience, satisfy the applicable requirements and present no automatic disqualifying concerns.
The complete scoring system, category weights, qualification thresholds, disqualifiers and operational checklists remain proprietary to protect the integrity of the process.

Trust Cannot Be Purchased.
Partnerships may provide access, accommodations or compensation, but they do not guarantee positive coverage, a particular score or Passport recognition.
